General information

Lestat: The Musical, is a Broadway musical which opened on March 25, 2006, with music by Elton John and lyrics by Bernie Taupin. The play is based on character Lestat from the first three novels in Anne Rice's series, Vampire Chronicles. The book of the play is by Linda Woolverton.

The title role of Lestat is being played by Hugh Panaro, who had previously played both roles of the Phantom and Raoul in the Phantom of the Opera. The show is directed by Robert Jess Roth, who was a Tony Award nominee for his Broadway directorial debut for Beauty and the Beast, and also stars Carolee Carmello as Gabrielle, Jim Stanek as Louis, Drew Sarich as Armand, and Allison Fischer as Claudia.

The pre-Broadway debut engagement of the play was held in San Francisco in late 2005 in the Curran Theatre. After recieving mediocre reviews, the show has been majorly changed for its Broadway run.
